My Personal Growth Journey

“In this world, you’re either growing or you’re dying, so get in motion and grow.” -Lou Holtz

Personal growth has been a huge area of focus for me this past year. It’s amazing what you discover when you dig down deep into who you are and truly work on being the best version of you. And I don’t mean reposting inspirational quotes on Instagram and thinking that sounds good. I mean some serious, down and dirty, nitty gritty, soul searching.

It all started when I had this realization I wanted more freedom in my life. Financial freedom. Time freedom. FREE-DOM. Who doesn’t?

If I wanted my situation to change, I knew I would have to change. I was an athlete my entire life all the way through college. I’m blessed to not have lost that motivated, hardworking mindset. When I want something, I go for it.

So I watched people. People who were where I wanted to be. Where I knew I was going to end up. People who embodied all the goals I had and knew I would one day achieve.

I listened to podcasts. Read books. Watched videos. Here are my absolute favs that I have found so far.

The Energy Bus by Jon Gordon

This book can benefit anyone and everyone. If it were up to me, everyone should be required to read this book. We’re surrounded by so much negativity. It’s inevitable. This book takes you through one man’s journey of adopting a positive, high-energy outlook on everything and how it completely transforms his life.

Secrets of the Millionaire Mind by T. Harv Eker

One HUGE piece I have learned in this journey is that mindset is everything. However you think or act contributes to what happens. Whether you want to be a millionaire or not, this book can help you. The goals I have set were no longer started with “if”, they started with “when”. I can’t say enough good things about this book. Powerful stuff.

Becoming the Woman God Wants Me To Be by Donna Partow

The next part of my transformation was to focus on my faith. Faith has always been important to me but it was not a focal point. The older I get and the more I grow, I know that nothing happens without God. He’s constant. This book walks you through every aspect of life and how it can be transformed to reflect how God wants us to live – how we can always be better.

Podcasts have become my JAM. I’ve tried audiobooks but for some reason can’t comprehend them nearly as well as podcasts. I won’t go into too much detail about the podcasts but here is a list of my favs. These are particularly useful when it comes to entrepreneurship and growing your own business.

  • Boss Up! by Lindsey Teague Moreno
  • Network Marketing Heroes by Richard Bliss Brooke
  • Revolution Oils Business Coaching
  • Dream Big with Bon Goff & Friends
  • How I Built This with Guy Raz

This list of resources is always growing but if you’re ready to work on personal growth and development, the easiest thing to do is just start. Anywhere. Even if it’s just 30 minutes a day. It adds up and it’s SO worth it.
